All The Top Seeds Survive and Advance on A Hot Day-Two of the Mike Ryan Memorial
Manchester, NH- On day one of the Mike Ryan Memorial players battled the rain. Today, players battled the heat in round one of Match Play.
In the Boy’s Elite Championship Flight, we saw the top three seeds make it through the morning matches and into the afternoon. Mitch Cormier, Co-medalist from the stroke play qualifying round, won his morning match against Will Miele 3&1.
“This morning I started out kind of slow, making pars and bogeys. On the back I started to turn it on making 2 birdies in four holes” Cormier said. “My opponent kept the pressure on. He took me to 17 where I ended up making birdie to close the match out.”
The Elite Boys Championship Flight will continue tomorrow morning with the semifinal matches. Cormier will take on Jascha Johnston. The other co-medalist, Ryan Rankins, will take on Sam Maurice. The winners will play for the championship in the afternoon.
The Elite Girls semifinal bracket has officially been set. Lauren Mauch and Meghan Blood went to extra holes in their play-in match this afternoon. Mauch took the win after 19 holes to move on. The semifinals will have Mauch taking on top seeded Julianna Megan. The other match will have sisters, Delaney and Teagan Nadeau, going head-to-head for a spot in the Championship.
The Boy’s Prep Championship Flight saw an impressive day from Maddox Ketelaar. Ketelaar won both his matches handily today. He won 8&7 this morning, and 7&6 in the afternoon.
The stage has also been set in the Birdie division. The semifinals matches will see top seeded Colton Camren take on Bradley Peck. While the other match will put Marc Giampa up against Charlotte DuPaul for a trip to the championship.
