MacEacheron Steps Into Newly Created Director of Women's Golf Position with NHGA
Concord, NH – With the consolidation of the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) and New Hampshire Women’s Golf Association (NHWGA), the NHGA has established a new full-time position within the organization to manage the women’s golf programming within the Granite State. Darin MacEacheron is poised to step into the new position after spending the last year working for the NHGA as a USGA PJ Boatwright Intern, giving him the experience and tools needs to succeed in the role.
MacEacheron began with the NHGA back in March as an 8-month USGA PJ Boatwright Intern. The Boatwright Internship program, funded by the USGA, has been a successful program within golf administration as it gives those interested in working within golf the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the industry. MacEacheron thrived as an intern taking on much of the administration of the women’s golf events, along with assisting in various other roles throughout the organization.
A 2021 graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, MA, MacEacheron’s previous work experience includes working as a Reset Specialist for Pepsi Bottling Company and has continuously worked at NHGA member club, Green Meadow Golf Club as a Course Assistant. Through his internship with the NHGA, MacEacheron has gained tournament administration experience that he plans to carry through into the new role within the organization.
“I’m really looking forward to continue working here with the NHGA”, stated MacEacheron. “My internship with them was an incredible experience and it allowed me to grow not only my knowledge of the game of golf, but my passion for it as well.”
“The NHGA does a great job all across the board and I want to thank them for allowing me to keep working with them”, continued MacEacheron.
Much of MacEacheron’s internship experience was directly related to his new role with the NHGA. He was tasked with administering many of the women’s Tuesday tournaments throughout the summer. He said, “I was able to work very closely with the women golfers in the state this past season. Seeing their passion for golf makes me even more determined to take on this role. I see a real opportunity to grow this side of the game for future years to come.”
The NHGA is thrilled to have Darin seamlessly step into the Director of Women’s Golf role as he understands the goals of the organization and is a natural fit among the staff.
NHGA Executive Director, Matt Schmidt, stated, “Darin was so impressive as one of our Boatwright interns that it just made perfect sense to seamlessly integrate him into our team on a full-time basis. He has established great relationships and trust within the New Hampshire golf community, and we’re thrilled to see him take over the administration of our women’s programming.”
“Darin’s promotion is also a testament to the USGA’s Boatright internship program and we thank the USGA for its continued financial support which allows all AGA’s to introduce young people to the world of golf administration”, continued Schmidt.
MacEacheron starts his full-time position with the NHGA on Monday, December 5th.
