WOLFEBORO, NH - Ryan Kohler and Josh Chamberlain were the first pairing off the tee at last Saturday’s Spring Four Ball Championship at Kingswood Golf Club the kickoff event of the New Hampshire Golf Association’s competition season. They were also the first team to post a score and were in first place on the scoreboard at the end of the day winning the gross division with a five under par 67.

Kohler, playing out of Hooper Golf Club in Walpole and Chamberlain playing out of Stonebridge Golf Club in Goffstown carried over their winning ways from last season where they won the New Hampshire Four Ball Championship.
"After playing in a lot of the state tournaments the past couple years Ryan and I have become really good friends and we have a similar mentality. Neither of us takes it too seriously out there. We have a lot of fun playing together so it’s worked out well,” said Chamberlain.

Although finishing two strokes clear of the second place team of Kevin Crowley and Peter Malley it wasn’t without some self inflicted drama. "We were on fire early going six under through 12 holes but we kind of limped in,” confessed Chamberlain.   "We both made bogey from 100 yards in the fairway on the 14th and then we made bogey on 18 too.”

Any concerns over course conditions for an early season event at Kingswood were unfounded. While many of New Hampshire’s golf courses have suffered significant turf damage from the recent brutal winter Kingswood came through unscathed. "The course conditions were actually phenomenal, "said Chamberlain. "It was remarkable just how good the greens were there.”

Bob Davis and Greg Sargent took the net division title with a sizzling 11 under par 61 off a 75 gross. Dave Chagnon and Gary Volpe were the runners up with a net 63 off of a gross 80.  For a full list of results in both divisions, click here.
