Author: Wayne Mills
September 24th 2014 - TILTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE-Brett Wilson maintained his first round lead after round two of the New Hampshire Mid-Amateur Championship but it  has shrunk and the rest of the field has tightened up considerably.

Wilson shot a two over par 74 on Wednesday but his lead was cut to two strokes by Peter Kielty of Portsmouth Country Club who fired the low round of the day- a three under par 69 to be solo second at even par and will get paired with Wilson in tomorrow’s final round.

Dan Arvanitis backed up his first round 71 with a 74 to be solo third (+1) and will play with Bob Landry (+2) who shot a one under 71 on Thursday.

David Larivee of Manchester Country Club also shot a one under 71 and will pair with Jim Cilley of Pembroke Pines Country Club who had the second best round on Wednesday, a two under par 70. They are plus 2 and plus 3 respectively.

Former Mid- Am champion Craig Steckowych  at four over (73-75) and six shots back will play with Sean Lacey who shot 73-78 and is nine shots back of Wilson.

There was a hour and a half fog delay on Wednesday which slowed things down but at the end of the day 24 golfers made the cut which was at 158- 14 over par.

Phil Pleat, an eight time winner of the event made the cut at 10 over par but is the ultimate long shot to capture his ninth.

The host club, Lochmere Golf and Country Club, will be represented in the finals by Thomas Argagona, Jr. who is at eight over and Howard Cullen at nine over.
