Twice is Nice for Paradis
Author: Kate Kellar
June 5th 2016 - Newbury, NH - With not a single under-par round today, Matt Paradis, Concord Country Club, survived the wind and rain at Baker Hill to win his second straight Players Invitational.  Paradis fired a 66-78 for an even-par, 144 on the tournament, while fellow-competitor Cameron Salo, Bretwood Golf Course, shot 68-80 to finish four back in the 36-hole, two-day event.

What was the difference between yesterday and today?  Paradis says, “Mainly it was the weather; by the back nine all our clubs and grips were getting wet.  At that point, I was just trying to hold onto the club, hit fairways and hit the middle of the green.”

With the weather being what it was the game play for Paradis was “to eliminate the big numbers.”  He managed to avoid most big numbers, but carded a double-bogey on the 17th hole after putting his tee shot in the hazard.

“Pars were good out there today”, says Paradis.  The remainder of the field would agree with that as the consistent rain made birdies hard to come by.

After shooting a near-perfect 66 in round one, Paradis states, “I struggled a little bit today with my irons but I held it together fairly well and got the job done”.  Today, all it took was the ability to just hang on and Matt Paradis found a way to do so.

The low rounds for the day came from Zach Temple, Hanover Country Club, and Josh Chamberlain, Stonebridge Country Club, who both managed a 2-over par, 74.
