Paradis in Control at Players
June 4th 2016 - When it comes to Matt Paradis, Baker Hill, and the Players Invitational, we’re starting to see a trend.

Paradis, the defending champion, opened the 2016 edition of the Players with a scorching round of 6-under par 66 to take a two-shot lead over Cameron Salo, who fired a 4-under par 68. Paradis is now 10-under par in his last two competitive rounds at Baker Hill and today’s round was bogey-free and included four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 15th.

“This is a course for good drivers and I put the ball in play off the tee and stuck to my game,” said Paradis. “I hit lots of wedges in and overall the course fits my eye well. I missed a few putts on the front but all my misses were close and I had no three putts.”

Paradis began his round with five straight pars on Baker Hill’s 6973-yard layout but he birdied two out of the last four holes on the front to go out in 2-under 34. He was 3-under combined on the back nine’s two par-5’s and finished his round with a birdie on the final hole.

Cameron Salo is just two shots back after a round of 68 which included a bogey on each of his final two holes. Salo made seven birdies in all and is well positioned to challenge Paradis’s bid for a repeat championship.

Jamie Ferullo and Damon Salo were also under par, both firing rounds of 2-under 70. Josh Kibbe sits alone in 5th place after a round of even par 72.

Even with a two-shot lead, Paradis doesn’t plan on playing conservative in Sunday’s final round. “I’m going to plan on firing at pins and going even lower. I hit 17 greens today and want to do that again tomorrow.”

Final round tee times will begin at 7:30 am. Complete results can be found by CLICKING HERE.
