Paradis In His Element Again at Baker Hill
Author: Kate Kellar
June 3rd 2017 - Newbury, NH – Baker Hill Golf Club seems to be fitting Matt Paradis’ game for another year.  After the first round of the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) Player’s Invitational, Paradis (Concord Country Club) finished at the top of the leaderboard again with a four-under par, 68.

Paradis opened his round with a birdie on the first hole; always a good way to start the day.  The only blemish on his card was on the 200-yard, par-3 third hole where he made bogey but was able to rectify that with another birdie on the fourth hole.  He finished out his front nine with one more birdie and added two birdies to the card on the back nine and avoided bogeys.  Paradis is looking to defend his title and capture the Player’s Invitational title for the third straight time.

Behind Paradis, the leaderboard is close knit as Brett Wilson (The Golf Club of New England), Mike Martel (Nashua Country Club) and James McKee (Windham Country Club) all shot one-under par, 71.  Nate Choukas (Hanover Country Club) and Cam Salo (Bretwood Golf Course) each made the turn under par, but finished at even-par, 72.

The third hole, playing at exactly 200 yards today was the most difficult hole in the opening round.  The par-3, slightly uphill hole gave the leader a little trouble, as he made his only bogey of the day there.  The course as a whole played at around 6,900 yards with cooler temperatures and a little wind.

The second round of the Player’s Invitational will begin at 7:30AM on Sunday, June 4th.  The leaders will tee off at 8:40AM.
