NHGA Makes Changes to State Am Eligibility
April 29th 2015 -
The New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) recently announced a significant change in the eligibility requirements for the New Hampshire Amateur Championship. Any player with an active GHIN handicap not exceeding 12.0 is now eligible to play. The previous handicap index limit was 9.0. The change was made as the NHGA looks to make its premier event more accessible to the golfing community in New Hampshire.

2015 will mark the 112th New Hampshire Amateur and the Championship proper will be held at historic Mt. Washington GC in July. Non-exempt players must play in an 18-hole qualifier at one of seven sites around the state. Qualifiers for the 2015 season are at Souhegan Woods GC, Laconia CC, Montcalm GC, Concord CC, Canterbury Woods CC, and Maplewood GC.

The NHGA is also now allowing golfers to register or renew their handicap online through the NHGA website. Players may set up a handicap at one of four golf courses around the state for the cost of $50. That player will have an active handicap through that golf course, but won’t be considered a full member. Players may also continue to register for a handicap and membership directly through their NHGA member facility.
