Mid-Am Set to Begin Tuesday

September 22nd 2014 - CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE- The 31st Robert H. Elliott Mid-Amateur Championship is set to start on Tuesday September 23rd at Lochmere Golf and Country Club in Tilton, NH. The final “major” championship on the New Hampshire Golf Association’s (NHGA) 2014 calendar, the Mid-Am will be  54 holes of stroke play over three days with a cut to the low 27 and ties for the final round on Thursday.

Only New Hampshire golfers or members of a New Hampshire club age 25 and older with a handicap index of 9.0 or lower are eligible to play.  

This year's championship will have 76 contestants including defending champion Brett Wilson. Joining Wilson are several former champions of the Mid-Am including Phil Pleat who has won it eight times dating back to 1990.

Dan Arvanitis, a four time winner, with his first coming back in 1986, will be joined by two time champion Craig Steckowych, Josh Chamberlain who copped the title in 2009 and Jim Cilley who won in 2008.

The New Hampshire Golf Association has been administering championships at golf courses throughout the state since 1905.
