Author: Greg Howell
May 15th 2017 - Greenland, NH –  The cool drizzle faded off as the morning progressed, and twenty-one senior golfers teed it up at Breakfast Hill Golf Club for the 2nd New Hampshire Senior Match Play Championship. Bob Landry (Loudon Country Club) and Bill Everett (Laconia Country Club) shared medalist honors with matching 3-over par 74’s.  Everett will earn the number one seed based on order of finish. He will face Kevin Williams who survived a playoff with Allen Pattee for the 16th and final spot in the Championship Flight.

Landry and Everett reached their 74-stroke total in similar ways, as the pair had identical 9-hole splits. Each player made two birdies as they navigated the 6,170 yard layout. Rounding out the top six seeds are Danny Arvanitis (Derryfield CC), Bo Harris (Concord CC) , Dave Kane (Derryfield CC), and Mike Blair (Bretwood GC). 9-time New Hampshire Amateur Champion Bob Mielcarz (Concord CC) earned the 7th seed, while the defending Senior Match Play Champion Peter Beaulieu earned the 12th seed.

Matches begin Tuesday morning at 8AM, with two rounds of matches being played.

In its second year, the Senior Match Play Championship mirrors the format of the NHGA Junior Championship.  Competitors ages 55 and over play 18 holes of stroke play qualifying to determine their seed and flight for the match play rounds beginning Tuesday.  The top 16 players are placed into the Championship Flight with the remaining players being placed into the First Flight.  The final matches will be decided on Wednesday, May 17th.
