Final Tickets Punched at Mt. Washington
June 27th 2017 - Bretton Woods, NH – In the shadow of Mt. Washington and on one of New Hampshire’s most historic golf courses, 21 players booked their spot into the final field of the 114th New Hampshire Amateur Championship, presented by Audi of Nashua. Docile conditions early in the day yielded a bevy of low scores with medalist honors being shared by Rob Zimmerman (Nashua CC) and John Clancy (Concord CC) who both fired rounds of 1-under par 71.
The cut came at 81 with later groups facing a stiffening breeze and the threat of thunderstorms. Still, the qualifier finished before any foul weather hit and despite the afternoon yielding tougher conditions, a total of 21 players booked their place in New Hampshire’s most prestigious amateur golf championship. Other notable qualifiers included NHGA President, Glenn Walton and NHGA Director, Jim Jankowski.
They’ll join those who’ve already qualified and exempt players at Bretwood GC on July 10th. The 6,900 yard Keene gem will host its first State Amateur since 2000 when Bob Mielcarz took home his record ninth Amateur crown. The Championship proper will begin on Monday the 10th and will conclude with a 36-hole final on Saturday, July 15th.
For the second consecutive year, the New Hampshire Amateur Championship is proudly being supported by Audi of Nashua.
