Field Set for Open Championship

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE - So far this season the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) has conducted championships where the winners get only the glory, a trophy and some pro shop credit. This Wednesday and Thursday 93 professionals will play for pay in the 79th New Hampshire Open at Owl's Nest Golf Club in Campton, NH. They will be joined in the field by 43 elite amateurs.

The event will be 54-holes of stroke play with the low professional's three round total taking home the $5,000 winner's check. There will be a cut to low 40 and ties after day one and those surviving the cut will play 36-holes on day two.

Defending champion Jesse Larson of Mendon, VT will return to defend his title as will Nick Pandelena of Atkinson (NH) Resort and Country Club who was the low amateur in 2013.

The 2014 New Hampshire Open has attracted entrants from as far away as California and Bermuda as well as familiar names such as Richy Werenski, Mike San Fillipo, Geoffrey Sisk, Michael Welch, Ricky Stimets, Sean Gorgone, Brad Adamonis, DJ Lantz and Patrick Pelletier.

The New Hampshire Open has been contested since 1932 with a four year hiatus during World War II. Past winners have included many professionals who successfully competed on the PGA Tour and professional tours around the world.

Past winners of distinction include Tony Manero, Phil Friel, Bob Crowley, Bill Ezinicki, Kirk Hannefeld, Wayne Levi, and World Golf Hall of Fame member South African Bobby Locke who won in 1959.
