Tyngsborough, MA – After a slow start at Vesper Country Club on Monday, Chelso Barrett was able to rebound enough to grab the 3rd and final qualifying spot at USGA Amateur Sectional Qualifying. Barrett (Bretwood GC) last competed in the United States Amateur Championship at The Country Club in Brookline, MA where he advanced to the round of 16.

The Keene native started his day with an even par 72, which put him tied for 10th heading into the afternoon. After bogeying the first hole of his afternoon eighteen he played the next seventeen holes to 6-under par. His 36-hole total of 139 was good enough for third place.

The 2015 U.S. Amateur will mark Barrett’s 11th USGA Championship appearance (3 U.S. Junior Amateur, 4 U.S. Amateur Public Links, 4 U.S. Amateur). His best finish at a USGA Championship was in 2011 when he finished runner-up at the US Junior Amateur, losing to two-time major championship winner Jordan Spieth in the final match. The 2015 USGA Amateur Championship will be held at Olympia Fields Country Club from August 17th-23rd.
